Our committee is
dedicated to conserving and preserving the native plants, plant
communities, and landscapes of Alameda and Contra Costa
counties. The dedicated volunteers and staff of this committee
help achieve conservation goals by increasing awareness about native
plants, providing expert opinion on development projects during the
public review period, and organizing information on rare and endemic
plants for city, county, state, and federal agencies. Our committee meets bimonthly and
reviews important projects and identifies action steps through a
consensus-based approach. We are looking for additional
volunteers and interns on a regular basis. Please contact Lech
Naumovich at conservation@ebcnps.org,
or the conservation committee director Laura
Baker, with any questions.
NEWS: Our next
committee meeting is scheduled for February 26th, 7pm at the Walnut Creek office - 1601 N. Main Street. Also, we're offering a
conservation internship
position, please see the link on the main
www.ebcnps.org page.
RESEARCH INTERNS: Thanks to three research interns taking on local projects and helping disseminate reliable information: Philip Brownsey of UC Berkeley (Fuel Management and Rare Plants), and Merri Gordon of Mills College (Conservation of Presidio Clarkia in the Oakland Hills)!
